Greg Mackenzie, Owner and Physical Therapist

 

Greg was born in Durban, South Africa. He has a master's degree in Sports Medicine in addition to his PT qualifications, all of which were earned in South Africa — PT at Stellenbosch University near Cape Town.

Greg owned and operated a Sports Medicine clinic in South Africa for 14 years. He brings to Xcel a wealth of orthopedic, manual and sports physical therapy experience.

An avid marathon runner, Greg has run in many area races, the New York, Cincinnati Flying Pig, Air Force Marathons and the 56 mile Comrades in South Africa. He enjoys sharing the benefits of this sport with as many people as possible through the Xcel RUN/WALK programs.

Mike Mahan was raised near St. Paris, OH in Champaign County and has lived in Tipp City since 1979.  He graduated from Miami University and received a Master of Science degree in physical therapy at Duke University in Durham, NC.  He devoted his interests and career in the treatment of young children with developmental disabilities, spending 32 years with the Montgomery County Board of Developmental Disability Services in Dayton as a PT and administrator.  He retired from that program in June 2008, then began working on his second career at XCEL in July 2010.  Mike is married with four daughters.  He enjoys cycling and refereeing youth soccer. Stacie is a local native and a 2004 graduate of Vandalia-Butler High School. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science in 2008 from the University of Toledo, which was followed by her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of Dayton in May of 2011. She began her career at Xcel in May 2011 following a 12-week clinical affiliation with the group.

Stacie has been a member of Vandalia's High School soccer team, the University of Toledo's club lacrosse, and various youth ministries with her church. Currently, she enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as gardening, fishing, kayaking, and running.

Nick was born and raised in Valparaiso, IN and moved to Enon, OH in 1998.  He graduated from Greenon High School in 2004 then attended Clark State College and earned a PTA degree in 2007.   He began his physical therapy career with Xcel Sports Medicine in April of 2007. 

He is a current player on the Dayton Area Rugby Club since 2007 and has enjoyed playing rugby all over the country including San Diego, Las Vegas and New York.  He is currently attending Wright State University earning a bachelor's degree and plans to attend graduate school to attain his degree in physical therapy.

Ashley is a 2001 graduate of Fort Loramie High School. After completing four years in the United State Air Force, Ashley moved back to the local area where she pursued the career path of a PTA.

Ashley attended Edison Community College in Piqua, Ohio and earned her PTA degree in May 2011.

Ashley enjoys spending time with her family and friends as well as running local races.

Nikki is originally from Tiffin, OH where she graduated from Tiffin Columbian High School in 1997.  She earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Physical Education from Bowling Green State University in 2001.  She moved to Troy, OH in 2002 and attended Sinclair Community College to earn a PTA degree in the summer of 2009.  She began her physical therapy career with Xcel Sports Medicine in the fall of 2009. 

She enjoys competing in triathlons and has attempted three Ironman Triathlons thus far and is hoping to do more in the future.

Pilates

 

Celeste Mackenzie is Director of Pilates Training at Xcel. A native of South Africa, Celeste danced there as a professional ballerina for 13 years. After passing all Royal Academy Ballet exams, she trained with the Royal Ballet School in London.

Following her astonishing career as a Ballerina, Celeste became a Certified Pilates instructor and advocate. A proponent of the traditional Pilates method designed by Joseph Pilates, she has been an Instructor for Pilates Mat and Pilates Systems for 12 years. She continues her active pursuits by training and competing in local, national, and world marathons.
